A little pre-race rain didn’t dampen spirits of close to 500 hearty and festive turkey trotters at the 2nd Annual Birds of a Feather Trail Trot on Thanksgiving at Briar Chapel. It was an AWESOME morning on the trails and a perfect way to kick-off the holiday with family and friends!
We would like to thank all those that played a part in making this such a successful and fun event. A HUGE THANK YOU to:
– Racers and fun runners for signing up, showing up, and bringing the FUN, and for raising funds and awareness for PORCH Briar Chapel to support their efforts to help put food on the table of those in need in Chatham County. $1500 and a whole lot of canned/boxed food was donated on Thanksgiving – AWESOME!
– Volunteers for generously donating their time and energy (especially on Thanksgiving) to help make it all happen. SOOO helpful!
– The Briar Chapel community for sharing their awesome trails with us and to BCCA staff members Kianta and Don for the excellent support with the event!
– Shayna and William from Junction 311 for their expert timing/scoring service.
– EMTs from the Chatham County Fire Department and to the deputies from the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office for watching over our safety and for emergency response support.
– AlbyPT for recovery assistance/first aid at the finish.
– Athletic Brewing Company for the tasty craft non-alcoholic beer.
– Food Lion Briar Chapel for all the pie, cider, and whipped cream – YUM!!!
– Fleet Feet Carrboro/Durham for the gift certs and swag used for prizes and giveaways. NICE!
– RR staff, friends, and family for the support and hard work along the way. Great job TEAM!
And finally, THANK YOU to professional photographers Tim Skelding, Emma Ludenia, and Jay Proffitt for doing an excellent job capturing images of all the FUN! All photos are now online for viewing and free download.
And with that, the 2nd Annual Birds of a Feather IS A WRAP!
See you on the trails!
